Apprenticeships

Site Manager, Plymouth

Salary: Competitive based on experience


Site managers are a vital part of our operations, overseeing and coordinating sites and operatives, as well as ensuring the successful delivery of our projects. We are looking for a Site Manager, preferably with internal refurbishment experience, to join the TEC team, to work on a new project in Plymouth from early November.

As a Site Manager for TEC Construction Holdings Limited, your role is of pivotal importance and a key element of the success of our individual projects and our wider business, Reporting to the Project Manager this is a diverse and front facing operational delivery role that plans, coordinates, and implements site activities to deliver the construction programme to a successful outcome for our clients.

What you’ll be doing

The functions and responsibilities of the site manager role spread across four main elements:

  1. Planning and site mobilisation – ensuring that projects are planned effectively, set up and provisioned correctly from the start, including clear engagement with clients to ensure all safety and contractual obligations are in place prior to commencing the construction phase.
  2. Health, safety, environmental and welfare standards – With accountability for HS&E standards at site level throughout the full duration of each project, you will be taking a clear, supportive and firm line in relation to preventing harm to people and the environment, ensuring exemplary and fully compliant standards are maintained by all parties involved with our work.
  3. Programme management, sub-contractor management, financial control and reporting – implementing a structured, monitored and well communicated approach throughout the project. Ensuring high service standards from supply chain partners and effective use of material and personnel resources to ensure exemplary financial control, whilst keeping to programme timescales.
  4. Client liaison, contract and quality management – maintaining frequent and constructive feedback with clients and their agents, providing required contract reports and feedback, and ensuring effective management of quality throughout the project until final completion.

 

 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience: 

The following qualifications and/or experience are considered essential:

  • NVQ 6 or equivalent in a Construction based qualification.
  • L3 Risk Assessment qualifiaction
  • SMSTS site management qualification
  • First Aid at work certification
  • CSCS Card at managerial level
  • Full Driving Licence
  • Ability to hold enhance DBS.
  • PASMA work at height/tower scaffold certification
  • Asbestos Awareness training

Project / Contracts Manager

Salary: Competitive based on experience


TEC Construction’s Project Managers (PM) are the fundamental driver to successful project delivery of our built environment contracts, clearly leading and coordinating operational sites and proactively engaging with internal and external stakeholders involved with awarding or contributing to projects under their control.

We are looking for a Project/Contracts Manager to join the TEC team, preferably with general refurbishment experience. This role will be primarily based across Cornwall.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, this hugely varied role requires project managers to possess a broad spectrum of skills that ensure project delivery outcomes meet client requirements, company objectives and the wider success of TECs business. Possessing highly competent communication, planning and reporting skills and experience, the PM confidently engages with stakeholders at all levels to ensure projects are planned, mobilised and delivered to high standards, always planning forward and intercepting and resolving issues to maintain programme momentum.

What you’ll be doing

The functions and responsibilities of the role focus on 4 main elements:

  1. Project planning and pre-construction engagement – working closely with clients and the commercial team, PMs support success from the start, constructively and transparently setting out methods and timescales for efficient and realistic project delivery.
  2. Project mobilisation and site setup – coordinating with the commercial team the PM ensures that projects commence with maximum chances for safe and timely delivery, on budget and to quality.
  3. First-class construction phase implementation and delivery – maintaining a flexible and responsive approach to each project phase, always planning forward and proactively intervening to potential issues and delays, whilst always driving ownership of site standards and safety, continually leading by example.
  4. Continual communication, to successful completion and handover – keeping clients and contractors engaged at every step, the PM owns transparent project communication, reporting to keep stakeholders informed through to project completion and hand-over of all required project documentation

HSEQ Advisor

£25-35,000p/a, depending upon experience


About the role – what it involves:

The full-time role will have involvement across TEC Group businesses but will predominantly support our Construction activities. As an engaging and diverse position, the HSEQ Advisor is a familiar site presence with our operational teams, conducting objective site inspections, management system audits and championing exemplary standards of safety and environmental risk control. You will be highly instrumental in developing our proactive risk management protocols such as strengthening near-miss reporting, conducting site-based incident investigations and driving consistently high sub-contractor standards.

Reporting to the Health & Safety Director, you will have daily contact with senior management within the organisation and will be active on our safety, environmental and quality committees, supporting trend analysis of our health and safety performance metrics and suggesting focus areas to ensure we continually improve. You will integrate safety communications into our sites day-to-day activities, drafting toolbox talks, safety alerts and new safe working procedures and delivering them to site personnel where required.

The position is active in the maintenance of our suite of ISO accreditations for HSEQ standards, conducting internal audits.The benefits package includes:

• Salary range: £25-35,000p/a, depending upon experience

Knowledge, Skills & Experience 

You will already be qualified to NEBOSH certificate level (general or construction) and have experience of supporting safety management in a construction related environment. You will be a persuasive communicator, confident engaging with personnel, management and supply chain members at all levels and will have competent IT skills to prepare proficient reports and written safety system documentation.

You will have a good familiarity with health and safety legislation and best practice and be able to support preparation of risk assessments to a high standard, also assessing those of our project supply chain. Experience of ISO standards and auditing procedures is advantageous, although training can be provided.
