First phase completed at Plymouth’s Portland Villas

Programme: -

Value: -

Marking a major milestone in the project programme, first phase works at Plymouth University buildings, Portland Villas, have now been completed. This includes the full removal and replacement of over 10 different roofs, across 3-10 Portland Villas.

Replacing both pitch and flat roofs, the structures have been upgraded in line with modern standards, with the installation of high-quality, natural Brazilian slates, complimenting the building’s Grade II listed status and architecture. Extensive leadworks, decoration and external rendering also formed part of the works, with the offices and learning spaces, now benefitting from new, high performing and watertight roofing systems – built to last.

Roofing teams onsite have also had the added benefit of working under controlled conditions, with the erection of an extensive scaffolding enclosure; allowing all works to progress on programme, without threat from changing external weather conditions.

On completion, and to allow further internal and external refurbishment works to continue, we recently removed the roof of the scaffolding enclosure, with the help of a large, mobile long-reach crane. As a temporary addition to the city’s skyline, this was the ideal way to ‘top off’ the monumental roofing project!

With the project continuing, stay tuned for more Portland Villas updates.
