Northernhay House, Exeter

Value: -

Having already completed the first stage of works at Northernhay House, we recently commenced phase two of the extensive project in Exeter’s city centre. This time focusing on the west block of the 218-room student apartment building, our teams returned to the site to complete extensive building and fire safety upgrades.

With a few design variations, alongside the need for additional works, the project requirements included the installation of a five-lift scaffold, to enable complete safe access to its external cladding, as well as a strict programme – which included carrying out works over two summer holiday periods.

With a focus on fire prevention, containment and general safety, the TEC team removed and reinstated every external facing wall in over 130 rooms to improve fire barriers between flats. Alongside this, we also removed and replaced the existing cladding panels, as well as over 130 windows.

Completed and handed back to our client on programme in time for the start of a new term, students now not only benefit from improved fire safety, with the installation of new, industry approved materials, but also enhanced thermal building efficiency and performance.

From upgrading windows and ventilation systems, to external wall insulation, cladding and roof coverings, we understand how quality construction can produce industry-leading results, alongside positive change.
